How to Get Started With Take Our Kids to Work

Employers register to be eligible to apply for the Canada’s Outstanding Employers Award.
Take Our Kids to Work -  Calendar Timelines

May:  Provincial coordinators at Ministries of Education across the country are asked for quantities of printed Parent Guides their school boards will need.
Mid-August:  Schools and employers notified that Teacher Guides, Employee Guides, school posters, workplace posters and other resources are available for download from our site.
End of August: Printed Parent Guides are shipped.
September:  Emails are sent to school boards announcing the date of Take Our Kids to Work™  and emails are sent to employers announcing the date and encouraging them to register their participation on our website.
September and October:  Classroom preparation for Take Our Kids to Work™ day.
Mid-October: Online employer registration opens.
First Wednesday in November:  Take Our Kids to Work™ day!
Second week of November: Deadline for applications to Canada’s Outstanding Employers Awards.
November-December:  Student, teacher and employer surveys are completed. Classroom discussions using Take Our Kids to Work™ day experiences.
First week of December:  Winners of Canada’s Outstanding Employers Awards are announced.
Employer participation is critical to the success of Take Our Kids to Work™.To recognize those organizations that take extraordinary steps to make Take Our Kids to Work™ day an exciting and engaging learning opportunity for young people, we introduced the Canada’s Outstanding Employers Award in 2011.
