Course Modules Description – Series 6

Module 1: Providing Leadership in Strong School Districts

A conceptual framework for leadership and management is introduced through sessions focused on executive leadership, thinking, and change management.
Participants will learn to consider the critical features of strong school districts and the leadership practices and consciously determine the actions a leader takes to make successful strategic change happen. They will experience a change model and practice applying the key process step of generating buy-in, through small group and individual use of an online simulation tool and apply the concept of Integrative Thinking to consciously seek out and evaluate the factors and data to make strategic decisions.

Module 2: Developing Positive Climate in the School District

Participants build on the learning from Module 1. To survive, leaders in all organizations must identify and focus limited resources where they are most needed to achieve organizational goals demanded by their stakeholders. In Module 2, participants explore elements of managing in the public sector and developing positive climate.  They will

Module 3: Character and Virtue in the Effective Leader

Participants will explore the concepts of Pre-module readings, which will focus on the importance of character as an important element of leadership. They will further consolidate understanding of their personal learning resources and the significance of ethical decision-making, and:

Module 4: The Impact of Leadership on Organizational Improvement

Participants will explore Characteristics of high-performing school systems:Consider how leaders in the province of Ontario can progress to higher levels of achievement in demanding circumstance

Module 5: Developing Self and Others

Participants will explore concepts regarding developing people, both self and others and:Discover the power of emotional intelligence to better help understand how the actions of leaders positively or negatively influence the ability to lead and manage:
